£6,000 compensation for childhood injury
Usually, when making a claim for compensation for a personal injury the claim must be made within three years of the accident. However, there is an exception to this rule where the accident happened to a child.
If a child is injured in an accident, then they have a period of three years from their 18th birthday when they might make a claim before they turn 21 years old.
Our client, had been a passenger in a car that was involved in a road accident when he was just nine years old. Although he had suffered from whiplash, no claim had been made on his behalf at the time.
A little while after the accident, the young boy started to suffer from migraine headaches which increased in frequency and severity. It was later realised that these headaches were as a result of the accident and this was confirmed by a consultant neurologist.
Our client was 20 years old when he approached Bartletts Solicitors and explained the history of the accident and the migraine headaches. As he was within the three-year period since his 18th birthday, Bartletts were able to pursue a claim on his behalf and we successfully obtained compensation of £6,000 for the young man.
